Fort Worth-based Cook Children’s Medical Center plans a medical office building and surgery center in the Walsh Ranch development that straddles Tarrant and Parker counties.
The facilities will be among the first commercial uses in the 7,275-acre development that’s expected to transform the sprawling historic cattle ranch into a community of luxury homes, an extensive trail system, parks, offices, shops and restaurants, Stacey Jandrucko, Walsh Ranch’s real estate director, said at a Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce luncheon Thursday.
Cook Children’s will build at Interstate 30 and the soon-to-be built Walsh Ranch Parkway, the primary road that will run north and south through the development, she said.
That construction is already funded and is expected to begin in February or March and to be completed in spring 2014, she said. Developers are awaiting word from the Texas Department of Transportation on a specific timetable. It will be one of five interchanges built along Interstates 20 and 30, which bisect the Walsh Ranch.
“We cannot open this development without that interchange,” she said.
Once work on the interchange begins, construction on the first phase of 124 residential lots will also begin, Jandrucko said. Those homes will likely start at $350,000. As many as 18,000 single-family and multifamily homes are planned.
As many as 50,000 people are expected to live in Walsh Ranch, which will bring eight elementary and two middle schools to the Aledo school district, she said.
